About Me

So where does my journey begin.

This is completely new to me, not just the whole blogging thing, but also the BRACA1 gene. As I only found out at the end of 2024.

Pretty much 29 weeks before starting this blog.

We as a family were lucky, and had really no history of cancer running through the family. However, the word cancer is now a commonly used word amongst us.

But first a bit of my back ground, I am a 35 year old women, with 2 little humans. Also pregnant with my 3rd. (That is part of my story) I'm currently engaged, been with my partner for 3 years. We were in the new relationship when I found out, I had the chance of being BRACA 1 positive. My whole BRACA1 Journey started back in July 2023, when my mum had herself tested for the gene, due to her cousin being tested positive. We were unaware of her father being positive for the gene, as he passed away back in 2017. And back when he first started having problems, the testing wasn't really around, we thought my mums chances were pretty slim. However, she came back positive which is where my journey started.

I've wanted to start a blog of the journey for a while, but never found confidence to do it.

But the lack of support that is out there has surprised me. Finding people we can talk to, and sharing our experiences with are few and far between.

So I've decided to document my journey, from finding out, my appointments, the guidance I'm giving and the surgery. Along with everything in between.

If anyone would like to share their experiences, the decisions made and the outcomes that could provide support for people any any stage of their own journey. Or if you have a question that you want answering, drop me a message.

Thanks for reading.
